Golkonda Fort

The Golkonda fort is a must see for everyone who loves a bit of history. It is one among the best forts in India. Built in the 1300s, it is quite well maintained. A visit to this monument transports you back in time. The Golkonda fort, with its well planned township, granaries, water supply system, advanced acoustic features in the architecture, darbar hall, mosques and prisons was an impregnable structure. Take the services of a guide to have a better experience. If you move about on your own, you are sure to miss places of historical importance and also will not be able to understand the significance of the different structures inside the fort. There is a light and sound show in the evenings (Two shows 1830hrs to 1930hrs and 1930hrs to 2030hrs in the winter and from 1900hrs in the summer). The show explains the history of the fort highlighting places of importance.
The climb upto the top of the fort takes atleast one and half hours. There are aroun 400 steps. Make sure to travel light. Try not to visit between 1100 hrs and 1600 hrs. The sun will bake you. Keep your caps and hats ready. And remember to have a torchlight with you if you are coming down from the fort late in the evening. The lighting inside the fort leaves much to be desired.

Those who have already visited the fort can give their suggestions so that other visitors can benefit.
